Where Do I Start?
If you've found this page, you've also found lists of resources and actions. There is so much. Where do I start? How can I possibly make a difference? I know it matters but...
So, pause, breathe, go within and listen for what is yours to do. That's always where we start. Each of us chooses our path.
I invite everyone to listen for what is yours to do. Here are two websites that have resources that may help you choose:
- Debby Irving's 21-day Racial Equity Challenge found here: https://debbyirving.com/21-day-challenge/ There is a list of resources to tap into, at least once a day, for 21 days.
- Practitioner Tracy Brown's Facebook page, "What Is Mine To Do?" found here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/minetodo
You'll find lots of ideas gathered from people in our Center community in the blog post just before this one. You can also find resources sorted by format (book, video, etc.) by clicking under Links for You "Antiracist Resource List" on this page.
Much of the dismantling of racism must be done by those who have consciously or unconsciously learned and benefited from the system. If you are someone who has white privilege, consider joining an important exploration based on Layla Saad's book Me and White Supremacy. There are two groups starting in August:
- Two CSL-wide groups:
- Practitioners Book Study: Monday Evenings, 5 to 6:30 pm Pacific beginning Aug 3rd and ending Aug. 31, 2020. Practitioner Registration
Members and Friends Book Study (non-minister or practitioner): Tuesday Evenings, August 4 to September 1, 5 to 6:30 pm. Community Registration
- Book study at our Center, Wednesdays, August 5 through September 9, Noon to 1 pm. Please register in advance for this free event.

Last and certainly not least, come to the monthly conversation with the Being and Belonging Discussion Group -- it is on the second Sunday of every month, 1:30 to 3 pm, on Zoom. Email talkaboutdiversity@gmail.com for more information.
